John C. Foster's MISTER WHITE Supernatural Espionage Thriller Coming Soon Posted on 09 Jul 13:09

CHICAGO, June 16, 2015 — Combine the intricate, plot-driven stylings of suspense masters Tom Clancy and Robert Ludlum, add a healthy dose of Clive Barker’s dark and relentless, occult-driven horror and you have an idea where the latest genre-busting supernatural thriller MISTER WHITE, by author John C. Foster, will be taking readers when it is released by Grey Matter Press this fall.

Beginning with an unnerving query posed by a mysterious voice from the other end of a static-laced telephone line, Foster’s novel MISTER WHITE quickly rockets to breakneck speed as a corrupt spy, working for a shadowy U.S. governmental agency, becomes entangled with a villainous cabal that pursues him across three continents in a breathless, high-stakes espionage thriller and white-knuckled horror shocker that answers the single question: “Who is Mr. White?”

“I grew up on a steady diet of Stephen King and Robert Ludlum spy thrillers and remember asking myself, ‘What if I brought both types of stories together?’” said Foster. “Horror and espionage turned out to be a surprise fit, the dread and excitement marrying perfectly into a story that pushed the boundaries of both genres.”

Blurring the lines between traditional horror and spy thriller, MISTER WHITE is based in part on the short story of the same name written by Foster and published in the Grey Matter Press anthology DARK VISIONS: A COLLECTION OF MODERN HORROR – VOLUME TWO.  The novelized version expands on the brutal events of that story which details the horrifying experiences of a spy-gone-bad known only as Abel. In the novel MISTER WHITE, Foster reveals that the tendrils of corruption reach much deeper and are far more terrifying as a relentless supernatural force threatens more than Abel alone.

MISTER WHITE is an accomplished work by one of the most exciting voices working in dark fiction,” said Anthony Rivera, publisher at Grey Matter Press. “In this novel, John has crafted a frightening tale with rapid-fire action that completely demolishes the boundaries of standard horror. MISTER WHITE is going to resonate with fiction fans who enjoy reading suspense, political and espionage thrillers as well as supernatural horror.”

Exhibiting a writing style that has been called a blend of Robert McCammon and Raymond Chandler, MISTER WHITE highlights Foster’s innate ability to seamlessly mesh elements of horror, noir, occult and suspense thrillers into rich, character-driven and terrifying fiction.

MISTER WHITE will be Foster’s second novel, and it will be the first full-length novel published by the 18-month-old Grey Matter Press.

“Grey Matter Press has a well-earned reputation for publishing top quality fiction that readers want to read,” said Foster. “I am honored that MISTER WHITE will be the first novel to fly the Grey Matter Press banner.”
“We’ve had the pleasure of working with John in the past, originally with his short story “Mister White” and then “Burial Suit,” featured in our DEATH’S REALM anthology,” said Rivera. “We're very excited to have MISTER WHITEbecome the first of many novels that we'll publish, marking a new chapter that will extend our catalog far beyond the horror genre.”

MISTER WHITE will be available worldwide in trade paperback and in common digital formats upon its release.
